Dante e la Sicilia<\/h1>\n\n<span class=\"wp-block-civita-mostre-date-in-out\">12 Dic 2021 \u2013 14 Mar 2022<\/span>\n\n\n<p>The rooms of Villa Zito in Palermo are hosting the exhibition <em>Isgr\u00f2 Dante e la Sicilia<\/em>, promoted by Fondazione Sicilia and Amici dei Musei Siciliani, in collaboration with Archivio Emilio Isgr\u00f2 and contribution from Fondazione per l&#8217;Arte e la Cultura Lauro Chiazzese.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/article>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column column-image\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.civita.art\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/ISGRO-900x600-px.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1583\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section id=\"mostra-main-text\" class=\"wp-container-3 wp-block-group shift-right mostra-main-text has-white-color has-text-color\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns has-background\" style=\"background-color:#993565\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center mostra-text\" style=\"flex-basis:60%\">\n<h4 id=\"the-exhibition\">The exhibition<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The rooms of Villa Zito, home to the Pinacoteca della Fondazione Sicilia, are hosting the exhibition Isgr\u00f2 Dante e la Sicilia, curated by Marco Bazzini and Bruno Cor\u00e0. Promoted by the Fondazione Sicilia and Amici dei Musei Siciliani in collaboration with the Archivio Emilio Isgr\u00f2 and with the contribution from the Fondazione per l&#8217;Arte e la Cultura Lauro Chiazzese, the exhibition presents around twenty paintings from both public and private collections with subjects from Dante Alighieri\u2019s work. From 1966 to the most recent works, they briefly describe the multiform and deep relationship Emilio Isgr\u00f2 had with the erasure technique, which on this occasion focused on Dante&#8217;s \u201cDe vulgari eloquentia\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<span class=\"wp-block-civita-readmore enable-on-desktop enable-on-mobile\">Read more<\/span>\n\n\n\n<p>The exhibition celebrates 30 years of the Fondazione Sicilia and the recent acquisition to its collection of Seme d&#8217;arancia su pietra siciliana \u00a0(Orange Seed on Sicilian stone), a work by Emilio Isgr\u00f2 presented on 9 April 2022 at Palazzo Branciforte, the Fondazione&#8217;s prestigious headquarters restored by Gae Aulenti. The exhibition has launched an important one-year-long cultural project, which can be summed up in the expression \u2018Isgr\u00f2 Dante Caravaggio and Sicily\u2019. A second event was held in the Oratorio di San Lorenzo, in the heart of Palermo&#8217;s historic centre, on 24 December 2021, when Emilio Isgr\u00f2 unveiled his work \u2018Nativity\u2019. In this work, the Sicilian Master has tackled this iconographic topic also in memory of Caravaggio\u2019s masterpiece on the same theme stolen from this Oratory back in 1969.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center artist-bio\" style=\"flex-basis:40%\">\n<h5 id=\"biography-of-the-artist\">Biography of the Artist<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Emilio Isgr\u00f2 (Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, Messina, 1937). Considered to be one of the innovators of Italian artistic language after World War II, Emilio Isgr\u00f2 is the undisputed father of the erasure technique, which he began experimenting with in the early 1960s and is still using with the same energy and creative audacity. This original research on language has made him an almost unique artist and an undisputed protagonist of the international contemporary art scene.
