The exhibition is divided into five sections and brings together around one hundred photographs, combining some of Erwitt’s most celebrated images with a selection of works from his private collection, some of which are being exhibited for the first time.
Family photographs, reportage, street photography and portraits of leading figures from the worlds of politics, cinema and culture reveal an autobiographical, ironic and deeply human perspective.
One section is dedicated to Erwitt’s relationship with Italy, where he spent part of his childhood before being forced to leave the country with his family as a result of the Fascist racial laws.
The photographs are accompanied by previously unpublished texts by Biba Giacchetti, who was a friend and collaborator of the photographer for more than thirty years.
The exhibition is accompanied by a book published by Orion 57.
